Nawab Ali Qureshi has been arrested by the police after he reportedly confessed to slitting the throat of his 4-yr-old daughter Rizwana
as a sacrifice to God for Ramadan.
According to him, he needed to be free from the devil’s possession at the time which was his reason for slaughtering his daughter
Times of India reports that the 26-year-old meat seller earlier blamed Rizwana’s death on a family cat but finally confessed to the crime.
He reportedly said, “I had to offer my most prized possession to Allah”.
The reports revealed that Qureshi recited passages from the Koran before killing his daughter in Jodhpur, India.
He is reported to have confessed after his wife,Shabana reported the case to the police after she discovered Rizwana dead at about 3 am that morning.
He said: “I am a devout Muslim and love my daughter more than my life. For several days she was at her grandmother’s place and returned on Thursday.
“I took her to the marketplace and bought sweetmeats and fruits. In the night I took her to the courtyard downstairs, recited a kalima, killed her, and then went back to sleep upstairs.”
According to the police, Qureshi sacrificed his daughter, eldest of the two, as she was very dear to him and fit the best to please Allah.
A report said that Qureshi had brought Rizwana from her grandmother’s place during the day and brought sweets for Rizwana, the same way goats are well fed before sacrifice on Eid.
However, cops are still looking into any other motive behind the gruesome murder.
It was Rizwana’s mother Shabana who started looking for her little girl when she found her missing for a while.
When Shabana rushed out, she saw her lifeless in a pool of blood. She and her husband took the girl to the hospital where she was declared brought dead.
A medical board confirmed that her throat was slit.
According to the police, Qureshi reportedly said that being a namazi, he had sacrificed his daughter by slitting her throat with a knife.
He also said that now he is in a state of shock and feels as if Satan had overtaken him when he murdered his daughter. If he were to be believed, the devil got it done and not him.
