A 22-year-old man, Chukwuebuka Nnaji, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl just to disvirgin her.
The incident was said to have occurred in Madalla in the Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that the suspect had asked the victim to meet him at a hotel at Madalla Junction, claiming he had a gift for her.
It was gathered that on getting there, Nnaji dragged her to an isolated area in the bush and had carnal knowledge of her.
The suspect, who is a shop attendant, said, “I knew she is an underage girl; that was the reason why I have not impregnated her. I want her to be of age, so I can marry her.”
He added, “I had sex with her because I wanted to deflower her but it has dawned on me that I was simply infatuated.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect had confessed to the crime during interrogation, adding that he would soon be arraigned in court.
