According to a statement from the agency, the enforcement followed multiple notices and warnings served to the popular retail giant over unremitted taxes. Officials explained that the action is part of the Lagos State Government’s renewed commitment to strengthening revenue collection and ensuring corporate tax compliance across key business sectors.

An LIRS spokesperson noted that the exercise aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s agenda to build a transparent and accountable tax system capable of funding public infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
The agency reiterated that no company—local or international—is above the law, urging all corporate entities to promptly regularize their tax filings to avoid sanctions.
This move marks another bold step in the state’s efforts to tackle tax evasion in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.
