Authorities in Lagos have taken disciplinary action against a group of police officers accused of harassing young residents and unlawfully taking their mobile phones in the Ojuelegba Underbridge area.

The incident came to light after a social media user, known as @ejylemykel1, shared an account online describing how the officers allegedly carried out the operation on Monday night.
The post quickly gained attention, triggering widespread concern and criticism from members of the public over the conduct of the officers involved.
According to the report, the officers—believed to be part of the Anti-Cultism Squad—were said to have stopped several youths, questioned them, and seized their phones without providing any clear legal basis.
Many observers have since described the actions as a misuse of authority.
Reacting to the allegations, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed via its official X (formerly Twitter) account that the officers in question had been identified and taken into custody.
The command stated that they were brought before the Commissioner of Police, where initial statements were collected.
The Commissioner has reportedly ordered their continued detention while a full-scale investigation is carried out to determine the facts of the case.
Police authorities also revealed that they have reached out to the individual who raised the complaint, inviting them to provide further information to support the ongoing inquiry.
Officials emphasised that this step is essential to ensuring a fair and transparent process.
Reiterating its position, the command assured residents that it remains committed to maintaining discipline and professionalism within the force.
