K Charity Commission Freezes Assets of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM)

In a startling development, the UK Charity Commission has frozen the assets of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) in the United Kingdom amid an ongoing investigation into the church’s financial operations and governance practices.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the regulatory body took the decision after identifying what it described as “serious concerns” over the ministry’s handling of charitable funds and internal accountability systems.

The move means MFM UK will temporarily lose access to certain financial accounts until the inquiry is completed.

A spokesperson for the Charity Commission stated: “We have taken action to protect charitable assets while our investigation continues. The public expects charities to be transparent, responsible, and compliant with charity law.”

The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, founded by Dr. Daniel Olukoya, is one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal movements, with thousands of branches across the world — including several in the UK.

This latest development has sparked mixed reactions among members and observers, with many awaiting an official response from the church’s headquarters in Lagos.

Analysts believe the Commission’s decision could have wider implications for how foreign-based Nigerian churches are monitored and regulated in the UK.
