Authorities in Japan have issued an alert after North Korea reportedly fired what is believed to be a ballistic missile on Saturday, raising fresh concerns about security in East Asia.
The warning was made public by the office of the Japanese prime minister through a message posted on its verified account on the social platform X.
In the brief update, officials confirmed that a suspected ballistic missile launch had been detected and that authorities were gathering additional information about the incident.
“North Korea has launched a suspected ballistic missile. Further information will be provided as it becomes available,” the statement said.

At the time of the announcement, Japanese officials had not disclosed details about the missile’s flight path, possible range or where it might have landed.
Monitoring systems remain active as defence authorities continue to track developments.
