IPMAN Directs Members to Prioritize Dangote Refinery

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members nationwide to prioritize the purchase and distribution of petroleum products from the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, marking a major shift in the downstream oil sector.

IPMAN leadership said the decision was taken to support local refining, stabilize fuel supply, and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products. According to the association, sourcing fuel locally from the Dangote Refinery will help cut foreign exchange pressure, lower logistics costs, and improve price stability for consumers across the country.

The association also disclosed plans to explore the establishment of its own modular refineries as part of a long-term strategy to deepen indigenous participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain. IPMAN noted that owning refineries would empower independent marketers, enhance competition, and further strengthen domestic fuel production capacity.

Industry observers say IPMAN’s endorsement of the Dangote Refinery represents a significant boost for local refining efforts and aligns with the Federal Government’s push for energy self-sufficiency. The move is also expected to positively impact fuel availability nationwide, especially during periods of supply disruptions.

IPMAN reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition toward locally refined petroleum products and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
