“I Will Not Act Against My Party” – Bello El-Rufai Affirms APC Loyalty

The lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has publicly reiterated his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), distancing himself from suggestions that he may be influenced by his father’s political decisions.

“I Will Not Act Against My Party” – Bello El-Rufai Affirms APC Loyalty

Bello, son of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, made his position known through a statement posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account.

He was responding to a social media user who alleged that he was aligning politically with his father, who is now reportedly associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“I Love My Father”

In his response, the federal legislator firmly dismissed the claim and emphasised that his commitment to the APC remains unwavering.

“I love my father and I respect Asiwaju,” he wrote. “As long as I am a member of this party, I will never act against its interests. At the same time, I will not betray my principles.”

Bello acknowledged his deep personal admiration for his father while also expressing respect for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, widely known as Asiwaju.

However, he stressed that his political responsibility transcends family ties and individual personalities.

According to him, his ultimate accountability lies with God and the people of Kaduna North, whom he represents in the National Assembly.

“God is greater than PMB, Asiwaju, Mallam, and Buhari. In the end, it is God and Kaduna North that will judge me,” he stated.

The Oath

The lawmaker further highlighted the seriousness of his oath of office, noting that it was taken using the Qur’an, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the APC Constitution.

He said this underscores his obligation to uphold constitutional order, party discipline, and ethical leadership.

“My oath was sworn on the Qur’an, the Constitution, and the APC Constitution,” he added.

Bello also cautioned critics against attempting to entangle him in political disputes, issuing a stern warning to those he believes are trying to provoke controversy.
