Businessman and senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has defended polygamy, saying it offers men a sense of balance, support, and stability that monogamy often lacks.

Speaking in a recent interview, the senator—known for his marriage to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels—said he sympathizes with men who have only one wife, insisting that polygamy is deeply rooted in African culture and family structure.
“I actually pity monogamous men. Having multiple wives gives you a greater sense of balance, companionship, and stability,” Nwoko said.
He added that polygamy, when practiced responsibly, can help reduce infidelity and promote transparency in relationships.
“Instead of men having secret relationships outside marriage, polygamy allows them to live honestly and responsibly,” he added.
His remarks have since stirred mixed reactions across social media, with some praising his cultural stance while others criticized his views as patriarchal and outdated.
