Veteran Nollywood star Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has opened up about a frightening experience from her teenage years when she ventured into a rough part of Mushin in search of money to pay her brother’s school fees.

Speaking during an appearance on The Afropolitan Show, the actress revealed that she was just 15 years old at the time and desperately trying to help her family financially.
According to Omotola, a colleague from the film industry offered to take her to a group of men in Mushin who were known in the area for lending money. However, reaching them required passing through what she described as a very rough neighborhood.
She recalled that the environment felt intimidating, especially because of her young age and the reputation of the men she was about to meet. When she finally arrived, she found several of the men gathered in a room.
The actress said she had no choice but to plead with them for help, explaining that her brother urgently needed money to pay his school fees. The moment was particularly tense, as she was surrounded by men known for their involvement in risky dealings.
Omotola admitted the situation could easily have taken a dangerous turn. She remembered one of the men staring at her in a way that made her realize how vulnerable she was at that moment.
Despite her fears, the men eventually agreed to lend her the money she requested.
However, the relief did not last long. Omotola explained that she later struggled to repay the loan within the agreed time, which led to serious tension with the lenders. The men began threatening her over the unpaid debt.
The situation escalated when the lenders showed up at her family’s home to demand repayment. Unable to recover the money, they reportedly seized household items as compensation, including the family’s television and DVD player.
