The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, reportedly targeted Shuwari Sholi community, where gunmen stormed the area and unleashed violence that lasted for hours.

Residents said homes and other structures were set ablaze as the assailants moved through the village.

Among those confirmed dead was the village head of Shuwari, Bademi Papka, who was said to be related to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

A resident who witnessed the incident recounted that the attackers arrived on motorcycles and opened fire on villagers gathered near the market square.

According to the source, many people had been seated under a tree close to the market when the gunmen began shooting indiscriminately.

Panic spread quickly as residents fled in different directions, seeking refuge in nearby mountains and bushes. Several victims were reportedly shot while attempting to escape.

The witness added that security forces in the area were notified but arrived after the attackers had retreated.

Although calm has gradually returned to the community, fear and uncertainty persist among survivors.

Residents have appealed to authorities to intensify security operations and prevent further attacks.

Confirming the incident, former chairman of Madagali Local Government Area, Maina Ularamu, acknowledged that multiple casualties were recorded, though he noted that figures remain inconsistent.
