Ghana has been thrown into mourning following the death of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, at the age of 76.

The widow of Ghana’s late President Jerry John Rawlings reportedly passed away on Saturday morning after a brief illness. Her death marks the end of an era for one of Ghana’s most influential political figures and women’s rights advocates.
Nana Konadu was a trailblazer in her own right — a strong advocate for gender equality and a founding member of the 31st December Women’s Movement, through which she championed women’s empowerment across Africa.
Tributes have begun pouring in from political leaders, civil society groups, and citizens who remember her as a pillar of strength, a voice for women, and a symbol of national pride.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
