First Nigerian Professor In Statistics, James Adichie Dies

The first Nigerian Professor of Statistics and Mathematics, James Adichie, who graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1976, has died.

Professor James Nwoye Adichie, also the father of renowned Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, died at the age of 88 years, on Wednesday night June 10.

He celebrated his 88th birthday on March 1.

Before his death, he was admitted into the Chira Memorial Hospital in Awkuzu, Oyi local government area of Anambra State, for undisclosed illness.

He is survived by his wife and children.
