FG to Expand Cash Transfer Programme Beyond 15 Million Households — Wale Edun

The Federal Government has announced plans to expand its cash transfer programme to reach more than 15 million households across Nigeria.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, made the disclosure while speaking on the administration’s renewed efforts to cushion the impact of economic reforms on vulnerable Nigerians.

According to Edun, the government’s goal is to strengthen social protection systems and ensure that targeted assistance reaches those most affected by inflation and subsidy removal.

He noted that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to reduce poverty, stimulate household consumption, and promote inclusive growth.

“We are committed to ensuring that the poor and vulnerable are protected during this economic transition. The expansion of the cash transfer programme is one of several measures being implemented to achieve that,” Edun stated.

The expansion, when implemented, is expected to significantly boost the reach of the government’s social investment agenda.
