The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest dining table during this year’s Mega Renewed Hope NIHOTOUR Gastronomy Festival, scheduled to hold in December 2025 in Abuja.

The initiative was unveiled on Thursday during a joint world press briefing led by the Director-General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Aare (Dr.) Abisoye Fagade, and the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa.
This year’s event, themed “Oriki: Taste of Culture,” aims to celebrate Nigeria’s diverse culinary heritage while promoting investment opportunities in hospitality, food, and the broader creative economy—aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Fagade revealed that the centrepiece of the festival will be a 3.6-kilometre-long dining table, capable of seating between 2,000 and 3,000 guests. The record attempt is scheduled for the morning of December 6, after which the table will be transformed into a vibrant communal dining space for evening festivities featuring food, music, culture, and comedy.
According to Fagade, the festival seeks to position Abuja as a hub for major cultural and tourism events, boost youth employment, and strengthen Nigeria’s tourism value chain through capacity building and entrepreneurship development.
Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa described the initiative as a platform for economic inclusion and creative engagement, praising the growing global recognition of Nigerian cuisine and the creativity Nigerians bring to promoting local dishes on the international stage.
The festival and Guinness World Record attempt will be officially launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.
