The Federal Government has approved a ₦185 billion bailout package aimed at clearing outstanding gas debts owed to suppliers and boosting the nation’s power supply infrastructure.

The intervention comes amid ongoing power challenges affecting millions of Nigerians, as the government seeks to stabilize gas supply chains, reduce transmission outages, and ensure more consistent electricity distribution.
Officials say the funds will be directed toward settling arrears in gas supply, rehabilitating plants, and improving distribution networks to facilitate more stable and reliable power generation across the country.
The move is expected to ease recurring complaints about erratic electricity supply and support efforts to improve energy access nationwide.
