FCT Police Commissioner Orders Massive Crackdown on Criminal Elements Across Abuja

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has ordered a massive security crackdown on criminal elements operating across the territory.

As part of the renewed effort to curb crime and ensure safety during the festive and post-festive periods, the CP has deployed specialized tactical teams and surveillance units drawn from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU).

According to a statement released by the command, the operation—scheduled to run until January 2026—is aimed at dismantling criminal networks, enhancing visibility policing, and restoring public confidence across all six Area Councils of the FCT.

The police chief emphasized that the exercise will be intelligence-driven, continuous, and highly coordinated, targeting hotspots, black spots, and areas identified with rising incidences of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes.

Residents were urged to cooperate with security operatives, report suspicious movements, and adhere to safety guidelines as the command works toward maintaining peace and security throughout the festive season and beyond.
