Nollywood actress Fathia Balogun has announced the passing of her mother, breaking the heartbreaking news to fans through an emotional message shared on social media.
The actress, who recently turned 55, revealed that what was meant to be a moment of celebration turned into a period of deep mourning. Although her birthday fell on Thursday, February 5, Fathia had postponed the celebration to the following Sunday. Sadly, unknown to her at the time, her mother had died a day before the planned event.
According to the actress, the painful information was deliberately withheld from her until after the birthday celebration. She admitted that the loss still feels unreal, describing her late mother as an irreplaceable presence in her life.
Fathia said her mother was not only her biggest supporter but also her prayer partner, confidant and closest companion — roles she carried out with the warmth and love of a devoted parent.
While acknowledging the depth of her grief, the actress said she is drawing strength and comfort from her faith in Allah during this difficult period. She also disclosed that her family has chosen to grieve privately for now.
