The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially opened its 2026 recruitment drive, calling on qualified citizens from across its member countries—including Nigeria—to apply for more than 30 job openings across its various institutions.

In an announcement released on Thursday via its official website, the regional body said the hiring exercise is part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the execution of its programmes across key sectors.

Interested candidates are expected to submit their applications through the organisation’s designated careers portal.

Opportunities in Abuja

A significant number of the available roles are based in Abuja, Nigeria.

These include positions such as Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, and Documentation and Archives Assistant.

Additional openings cover roles like Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Accountants, Legal Officers, Political Adviser, and several senior-level positions including Principal Officers, Registrar, Head of Division (Library and Documentation), and Head of Hansard.

Positions Across the Region

Beyond Nigeria, ECOWAS is also recruiting for roles in other parts of Africa, reflecting its regional footprint.

Vacancies include Administrative and Finance Officer positions in Addis Ababa, a Principal Programme Officer (Sports Policy) role in Liberia, and a Principal Programme Officer (Water Supply and Sanitation) position in Conakry.

Legal and administrative opportunities are also available in Dakar and other locations.

Eligibility Criteria

The organisation outlined age limits depending on job categories.

Applicants for General Services or Support roles (G1–G7) must not exceed 35 years of age, while those applying for Professional roles (P1–P7) should be under 45.

Director-level candidates (D1–D2) must be no older than 50.

Application Guidelines

Applicants are required to download and complete the official ECOWAS application form, and submit it alongside a detailed CV and a motivation letter.

All documents must be sent through the specified email channels before the closing date.

ECOWAS emphasised that incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

Deadline and Important Notice

The application window closes on April 30, 2026.

The organisation also cautioned applicants against fraudulent recruitment schemes, reiterating that its hiring process is completely free of charge.

In line with its commitment to inclusivity, ECOWAS encouraged women to apply, noting that only candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted.
