Detained leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and wife has been released by the Department of State Service (DSS).
He was released on Monday night according to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya in Abuja.
El-Zakzaky, who is also the leader of the Shiite group in the country has been in custody for over four years.
However on Monday morning, a Kaduna High Court granted his prayers that he should be released to attend to his health abroad, preferably in India.
His followers have been on protest across the country in the last few weeks over his continued detention.
