The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has urged former U.S. President Donald Trump to publicly apologize to Nigeria 🇳🇬 over his recent comments describing the country as unsafe for Christians and labeling it a “Country of Concern.”

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Jibrin said Trump’s remarks were “misinformed, insensitive, and capable of damaging Nigeria’s image globally.” He emphasized that the Nigerian government remains committed to religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and equal protection of all faiths.
“Nigeria is a multi-religious nation where Muslims and Christians coexist peacefully. We will not allow anyone, no matter how influential, to sow seeds of division or misrepresent our country,”
— Senator Barau Jibrin stated.
The Deputy Senate President also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its swift diplomatic response, noting that such allegations could strain international relations if left unchecked.
He further appealed to global leaders to engage constructively with Nigeria rather than spread narratives that may fuel tension or misunderstanding about the nation’s internal affairs.
