Nigeria’s Minister of Defence has assured that no military officer or soldier acting within the boundaries of lawful duty will face punishment, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting the integrity and morale of the armed forces.

The Minister made this statement amid recent tensions involving security personnel and civil authorities, stressing that the military remains a disciplined institution guided by rules of engagement and the constitution.
He noted that while the government supports accountability within the ranks, officers carrying out legitimate operations in defense of the nation’s peace and security will be fully backed by the Ministry of Defence.
“No officer or soldier on lawful duty will be punished,” the Minister reaffirmed.
