The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has achieved a remarkable production milestone, now producing 70 million liters of refined petroleum products daily, surpassing Nigeria’s total domestic fuel demand.

The achievement marks a major step forward in the nation’s quest for energy independence and underscores the refinery’s growing capacity to stabilize fuel supply, reduce import dependence, and strengthen Nigeria’s foreign exchange position.
Industry experts say this development could significantly lower pump prices, enhance product availability, and transform Nigeria into a net exporter of refined products across West Africa.
The Dangote Refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos, is Africa’s largest integrated refinery project, with an initial capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. Since commencing operations, the facility has steadily increased output through advanced technology and operational efficiency.
Analysts also believe the refinery’s performance will support Nigeria’s balance of trade, boost industrial output, and generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the energy sector.
