Nigeria’s largest refinery, Dangote Petroleum Refinery, has announced a reduction in the ex-depot prices of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) and Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), marking its first price cut after a series of recent increases.

A revised pricing template released by the refinery on March 10, 2026, indicates that the gantry price of petrol has been lowered significantly.
Under the new pricing structure, petrol will now sell for ₦1,075 per litre at the gantry, representing a ₦100 reduction from the previous rate of ₦1,175 per litre.
The Adjustments
The refinery also disclosed that petrol supplied through coastal distribution channels will be sold at ₦1,050 per litre, offering a slightly cheaper rate for deliveries made via marine transport.
In addition to the petrol adjustment, the refinery reduced the price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel).
The gantry price of diesel has now been fixed at ₦1,430 per litre, down from the earlier ₦1,620 per litre. This reflects a decrease of ₦190 per litre.
Clarity On Statutory Levies
Despite the reductions, the refinery clarified that the listed gantry prices do not include statutory levies charged by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.
The development comes as global crude oil prices have recently declined, easing some of the cost pressures that have affected petroleum product pricing in international markets.

Meanwhile, petrol prices at some retail outlets across Nigeria have recently climbed as high as ₦1,250 per litre due to supply fluctuations and distribution costs.
