Dangote Gives Kaduna Businessman Seven-Day Ultimatum

Africa’s richest man and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to a Kaduna-based businessman, Kailani Mohammed, demanding a full retraction of what he described as a libellous publication made against him and his business interests or face a ₦100 billion lawsuit.

In a formal legal notice, Dangote accused Mohammed of publishing false, malicious, and damaging statements that allegedly targeted his personal reputation and the corporate image of the Dangote Group. The notice warned that failure to retract the publication and issue an unreserved public apology within seven days would leave Dangote with no option but to seek legal redress.

According to the letter, the publication is said to have caused reputational harm, financial losses, and public misunderstanding about Dangote’s business operations. Dangote’s legal team maintained that the allegations lack factual basis and amount to defamation under Nigerian law.

The ultimatum signals Dangote’s intention to protect his reputation and business legacy, stressing that misinformation and false allegations against individuals and corporate entities will not be tolerated. As of the time of filing this report, Kailani Mohammed has not publicly responded to the ultimatum.
