A self aclaimed Comptroller Genera (CG)l of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nura Dalhatu has been admitted as a patient at psychiatric section of the agency, after he took a dramatic step to upstage his boss, Comptroller General Hameed Ali, the sitting customs Chief in the nation.
Dalhatu until his imaginary rank was an Assistant Superintendent of Customs, who hails from Katsina State.
He took the Service by surprise on Monday at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja wearing the rank of Deputy Comptroller of Customs and claimed that President Muhammad Buhari had approved his new rank.
Dalhatu visited Ali, a retired army Colonel in his office to take over as the new Comptroller General of Customs claiming that it was directed by the President.
Authorities of the NCS however described the action as being influence by mental instability.
The National Public Relations Officer of NCS, Deputy Controller Joseph Attah, in statement stated thus:
“For those who have seen or may soon see a picture that is being variously misinterpreted what happened was that an Assistant Superintendent of Customs came to the office today wearing the rank of a Deputy Comptroller General.
“From questions and answers that followed, it was obvious that he was not in the right frame of mind, so a Doctor was immediately invited.“
“He is presently undergoing a medical examination at the medical unit of the service.”
