Chukwuma Soludo Sworn In for New Term as Anambra Governor After Landslide Victory

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has officially begun a new term as the leader of Anambra State, following his swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday at the recently refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital.

The event marked a significant political moment in the state, as Soludo renewed his oath of office alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim.

The ceremony drew a distinguished audience, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.

Also present were several governors, among them Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and other prominent figures from across the country.

The Return Of Soludo

Soludo’s return to office follows his decisive victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Running under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), he secured an overwhelming 422,664 votes.

His closest challenger, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) finished third with 37,753 votes. In total, 16 candidates contested the election.

INEC’s data showed that out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited to vote.

A total of 595,298 ballots were cast, with 11,244 rejected across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Demonstrating strong statewide support, Soludo secured victory in all 21 local government areas, underscoring his firm grip on Anambra’s political terrain.

His re-election provides him with a renewed mandate to advance his administration’s policies and development agenda.
