The Government of China has openly opposed any form of foreign interference in Nigeria’s domestic affairs, declaring its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking at a press briefing in Beijing, Mao Ning, spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Nigeria’s sovereignty must be respected and that the country’s affairs should be handled solely by Nigerians.
“China stands firmly against external interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations. We support President Tinubu’s efforts to maintain peace, stability, and development in Nigeria,”
Mao stated while responding to questions about former U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning regarding alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
The Chinese government emphasized the importance of mutual respect, non-interference, and diplomatic dialogue in resolving international concerns, adding that Beijing remains a steadfast partner in Nigeria’s economic growth and national development.
