The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has announced a nationwide one-day prayer to seek divine intervention amid what the body describes as ongoing “g+nocide” and escalating violence in several parts of the country.

In a statement released by its leadership, CAN expressed deep concern over the surge in killings, kidnappings, and targeted attacks affecting communities across Nigeria. The association urged churches, Christian groups, and believers nationwide to participate in the prayer session, stressing that the nation is in urgent need of God’s mercy and healing.
According to CAN, the spiritual exercise aims to unite the Christian community, draw attention to the worsening security crisis, and call on the government to take decisive action to protect lives.
Security analysts say CAN’s declaration reflects growing frustration among religious and civil society groups as Nigeria continues to grapple with widespread insecurity.
