The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially approved an expanded 28-man squad size for all national teams participating in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The decision marks an increase from the previous 23-player limit and is aimed at giving coaches greater flexibility in squad selection, especially with the growing demands of modern football and the need for added depth in key positions.
The expanded squad rule is expected to help teams better manage injuries, fatigue, and tactical adjustments during the tournament.
AFCON 2025 will be hosted in Morocco.
