Queen Ewaure of the Benin Kingdom has responded publicly for the first time after her suspension, pushing back against claims by the palace’s traditional council regarding a controversial visit by TikTok personality Peller.

The situation began when the Benin Traditional Council condemned Peller’s appearance at the palace, labeling it a violation of established protocol and insisting the visit had not been approved.
The council further directed the influencer to appear before a panel of chiefs, while also suggesting that the Queen—who hosted him—could face expulsion from the palace.
In contrast, Peller’s management team released a statement via Instagram disputing the council’s position.
They maintained that proper procedures were followed, explaining that a formal request had been submitted ahead of the visit.
According to them, the palace acknowledged the request but indicated that the Oba of Benin would not be available at the time.
Adding her voice to the controversy, Queen Ewaure also took to Instagram to defend her actions.
She asserted that the visit had indeed received official approval and shared what she described as proof—a document bearing an acknowledgment stamp from the Benin Traditional Council.
Beyond addressing the immediate issue, the Queen hinted at deeper tensions within the palace, suggesting that the uproar over Peller’s visit is only a small part of a much larger, undisclosed conflict.

In her words, the backlash is not truly about the influencer’s visit or the gifts exchanged, but rather about internal matters that have yet to come to light.
