Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for a comprehensive probe into the academic certificates of all members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) — and insists the probe must begin with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Atiku’s demand comes amid the growing controversy surrounding former Minister Uche Nnaji, whose alleged certificate scandal has sparked fresh debate about the integrity of public office holders.
In a statement released on Saturday, Atiku urged the Federal Government and relevant anti-corruption agencies to treat the matter with urgency, stressing that Nigerians deserve transparency at the highest levels of government.
“If the government is truly committed to accountability, the investigation must start from the top — from the President himself down to every minister,” Atiku said
The former Vice President argued that leadership credibility cannot be built on “half-truths and forged documents,” warning that failure to address such concerns would further erode public trust in the Tinubu administration.
Political observers say Atiku’s comments could reignite political tensions ahead of the 2027 elections, as the issue of certificate authenticity continues to trail several top government officials.
