According to filings submitted to the United States Department of Justice, Atiku entered into a 12-month agreement valued at $1.2 million (approximately ₦1.9 billion) with Washington, D.C.-based firm Von Batten-Montague-York.

The contract, signed on March 10 and later registered on April 1 under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), outlines a range of services the firm will provide on behalf of the former vice president.

As detailed in the filing, the lobbying group will offer strategic counsel, engage with members of the U.S. Congress and executive branch, and manage Atiku’s public and policy image among American decision-makers.

Part of its role includes shaping conversations around Nigeria’s democracy, economic prospects, regional security, and bilateral ties with the United States.

Additionally, the firm is expected to assist in refining Atiku’s policy messaging, organising high-level meetings in Washington, and addressing reputational challenges in international circles.

The agreement highlights key goals such as promoting Atiku’s political vision, strengthening his standing among U.S. policymakers, countering opposing narratives, and building lasting institutional relationships across American government structures.

Services to be delivered include drafting policy documents, facilitating engagements with top officials, and providing guidance on political risks and global perception.
