Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi the Emir of Kano has assured Air Peace of support as the airline commenced flight operations to the commercial city on Monday February 12.
Welcoming Air Peace team to Kano, the Emir who was represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Sambo, the Jakadan Hausa promised that the state will make the airline feel at home.
Emir Sanusi who described Air Peace inaugural flight to Kano as a historic and landmark event, promised that the Emirate will continue to render assistance to the airline to grow in their operations in the state.
He said Air Peace inaugural flight to the commercial nerve centre of the North is a welcome development.
In his welcome address, the chairman/chief executive officer of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema stated that the commencement of the Kano flight operations will be followed by that of Yola on Friday February 15, Freetown, Banjul and Darkar on February 19.
Onyema who was represented by the corporate communications manager of Air Peace Limited, Mr. Chris Iwarah described the launch of Kano flight operations as a significant milestone in the airline’s vision to unite the country through air travel and to lift the nation’s economy through trade facilities and massive job creation.
In the words of Onyema: ” In the last one year, we have hugely expanded our capacity to serve the flying public with the increase of our fleet to a size of 24 aircraft.
On January 31 and February 8 respectively, we took delivery of two of the six Embraer 145 aircraft we recently acquired to serve cities with air transport difficulties under our subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper. We had earlier taken delivery of three Boeing 737 aircraft we recently procured. Soon, the two Boeing 777 aircraft we acquired for our flight operations to Dubai, Sharjah, London, Guangzhou, Mumbai, Houston and Johannesburg will be arriving in Nigeria”.
Air Peace boss explained that the airline is more positioned to transform air travel experience in Nigeria, the West coast of Africa and beyond, stressing that the airline is reputed for her on time performance and uncompromising stand on matters of safety.
Onyema promised that the airline will leverage the experience of their skilled staff and excellent business model to end the era of endless delays on the Lagos -Kano -Lagos and Kano- Abuja-Kano routes.
He solicited the patronage and support of the state on the airline’s twice daily flight from Lagos into Kano and back, once from Kano into Abuja and back.
Speaking also, the regional manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano, Mohammed Bello advised the airline to keep to time by adhering to their schedule, including striving to sustain their operations and also to offer affordable fares.
He said Kano has been experiencing difficulties as a result of few airlines operating into the city, adding that the State is please to have Air Peace on board.
Bello also promised to accord the airline all the necessary support to make it succeed in its operations into Kano.
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of the defunct IRS Airline, Alhaji Rabiu Isiaku Rabiu applauded the airline for commencing flight operations to Kano.
He said if the airline do not cancel flights unnecessarily and do not also delay flight unnecessarily, the sky will be their limit on the route.
