Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has officially announced his retirement from international football, bringing an end to a distinguished career with the Nigerian national team.

Musa, Nigeria’s most-capped international player, made the decision after years of dedicated service, representing the country at multiple Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments and FIFA World Cups. He is widely celebrated for his pace, leadership, and memorable performances on the global stage, including his historic goals at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
The former CSKA Moscow and Leicester City forward played a key role in Nigeria’s 2013 AFCON triumph and later captained the Super Eagles, serving as a mentor to younger players and a symbol of professionalism within the squad.
In a statement, Musa expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support throughout his international career, describing it as an honour to wear the national colours and represent the country at the highest level.
His retirement marks the close of an important chapter in Nigerian football, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates, and football administrators across the country and beyond.
