Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Hundeyin has formally transferred duties to the newly appointed Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Okon Placid, during a brief ceremony held on Tuesday at the Nigeria Police Headquarters, Louis Edet House in Abuja.

The transition follows the recent approval by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who appointed Placid as the new spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force as part of ongoing internal administrative changes within the institution.
The development was earlier confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the outgoing police spokesperson, Hundeyin.
DCP Placid brings decades of policing experience to his new role, having served in several strategic capacities across administration, operations, intelligence, training, and international peacekeeping assignments.

About Placid
Born on December 2, 1970, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Placid is from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.
He also studied Law at the National Open University of Nigeria.
Placid joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Police Academy in Kano in 1996 and was formally commissioned in August 1998.
Over the course of his career, he has undertaken several professional and international training programmes, including the United Nations Peace Operations Specialised Training (POST).
Leadership
His certifications cover areas such as police studies, military studies, gender awareness, international humanitarian law, human rights, and civilian protection.
He has also completed the UNITAR Senior Leadership and Peacebuilding programme in Kenya, further strengthening his experience in leadership and peace support operations.

With his appointment, the police leadership expects the new Force Public Relations Officer to strengthen communication between the Nigeria Police Force and the public while promoting transparency and professionalism within the organisation.
