Abuja Court Sentences 19-Year-Old Teacher to Life Imprisonment for R*ping 9-Year-Old Pupil

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja has sentenced a 19-year-old school teacher, Abdullahi Abbass, to life imprisonment for r*ping a 9-year-old pupil in the Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

Justice Osho Adebiyi, who delivered the judgment, condemned the act as “a gross violation of trust and a grave crime against humanity.” The court found Abbass guilty after the prosecution presented compelling evidence linking him to the assault.

According to court records, the young teacher lured the victim under the guise of giving her extra lessons before committing the act. The case was reported by the child’s parents after she disclosed the incident, leading to Abbass’s arrest and prosecution.

Justice Adebiyi stressed that the punishment should serve as a deterrent to others who prey on minors, emphasizing the need to protect children from sexual predators, especially within educational environments.

The convict will serve life imprisonment without the option of fine.
