AON Elects New Executives

The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has elected a new National Executive Committee to run the affairs of the association for a new tenure in office during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA2) Conference Centre.

Alhaji (Dr.) Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, Founder and Chairman of Azman Air Limited was unanimously elected as the new President of the association bringing to climax the full day’s proceedings.

Alhaji Abdulmunaf brings with him a well-rounded experience from a variety of sectors including Oil & Gas, Agriculture and Haulage Transport Businesses.

He takes over the reins of leadership from the immediate past Chairman, Capt. Nogie Meggison, President/CEO, Jedidiah Air Limited, having served the association for two (2) terms and whose leadership gave AON a new and vibrant corporate image with greater industry influence and nationwide respect.

Also, Barr. Allen Onyema, Chairman, Air Peace Limited emerged as the new Vice President of the association. Mr. Onyema is an astute entrepreneur and erudite Lawyer with strong ties to a conglomerate of businesses and endeavours related to social justice and empowerment of the Nigerian masses. He hopes to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to bear on the fortunes of AON working closely with the new President.

Equally elected was a new Financial Controller in the person of Alhaji Shehu Wada, Company Secretary & Executive Director Business Relations of Max Air Limited. A Barrister at Law himself, Alhaji Wada also holds a Masters in Business Administration and comes with a range of managerial and human capacity development skills.

Addressing members of the media shortly after receiving the mandate to lead the association for the next three (3) years, Alhaji Abdulmunaf said: “I am fully aware of the challenges facing our association such as the issue of multiple taxation, heavy Customs Duty, and forex unavailability among others. I would like to assure you that I will continue from where the former Chairman is today by taking up these issues with relevant authorities until we achieve our goals.”
