Kano Govt Removes Sanusi As Emir For Total Disrespect To Lawful Instructions

Emir Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II of kano has been dethroned, for total disrespect to lawful instructions.

This happened after a meeting by the Kano State Executive Council that unanimously approved his dethronement.

At a special sitting held today by the council, under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Governor of kano state Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje approved the immediate removal and dethronement of Muhammed Sanusi 11 with immediate effect.

The Emir of Kano is in total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the state Governor and other lawful authorities.

He said a new emir would be announced in due course and urged Kano people to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.

The removal was reached to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition ,rekigion and prestige of the Kano Emirate built over thousands years.

Emir Sanusi ascended the throne in 2014, following the death of his granduncle Ado Bayero.

His grandfather Muhammadu Sanusi reigned from 1953 to 1963, when he was disposed by Premier Ahmadu Bello.

Prior to his accession, sanusi was an economist and banker, and served as Governor of Central bank of Nigeria from 2009 to 2014 before he was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan after raising an alarm on the US $20 billon NNPC scandal
