Why Did Turkish Aircraft’s Tyre Burst While Landing In Port Harcourt? AIB Begins Investigation

The Accident Investigation Bureau in Nigeria, has commenced investigation into the serious incident involving A330-300 aircraft operated by Turkish Airline, with registration marks TC-LOL.

The Bureau was notified that at about 3:30am local time, on the 31st December, 2019 the aircraft was enroute Port Harcourt from Istanbul, Turkey with 295 passengers and 11 crew members on board.

The aircraft suffered a burst tyre on landing on runway 21, Port Harcourt International airport, veered off the runway and managed to taxi to the new international terminal.

All the occupants disembarked with no injury.

The Bureau is open to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence or information that may assist in this investigation.

The Bureau will like to call on the Press and the public to respect the privacy of the people involved and NOT to pre-empt the cause of the serious incident.
