Chrisland School Supervisor Sentenced To 60 Years In Prison For Child Defilement

A 47- year-old school Supervisor, Mr Adegboyega Adenekan has been sentenced to 60 years imprisonment for defiling a two-year-old and 11-month-old pupil of a Lagos-based school.

Justice Sybil Nwaka of an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Thursday,
convicted and sentenced Adenekan after finding him guilty of a lone count charge of defilement.

Justice Nwaka held that the prosecution has proven the case of defilement against the defendant.

“I have no doubt that the defendant is the same person whom the victim accused of defiling her and the defendant is hereby convicted accordingly,” she said.

It would be recalled that Adenekan, was arraigned on January 29, 2018, but however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of child defilement.

According to the prosecution, the defendant defiled the pupil by having sexual intercourse with her, in contravention of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which provides for a life sentence for child defilement.

The prosecution had called seven witnesses including the survivor and closed its case on March 14.

The defence provided five witnesses, including Adenekan and the headteacher of the nursery arm of the School located at the Victoria Garden in Lagos.
