Nigerians Still Angry 24 Hours After Elections Postponement

Reactions have continued to trail the postponement of the 2019 elections,more than twenty four hours after INEC Postponed the elections few hours to its commencement, thereby putting the commission into very serious doubts.

Some calling for the resignation of the INEC Chairman, and wondering why Nigerians cant do things right as Resources and Money is been wasted.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose Tweets:

Two days ago, I told Nigerians that the Presidency cabal were considering postponement of the elections because they knew that they can’t win. Now I’m vindicated. With this, they have only succeeded in making their situation worse. Nigerians will defeat this tyranny ultimately.

David in Lagos wrote, No blame should be apportioned to any group or party but rather, the Inec umpire should cover their faces in shame. The first election to be conducted under Prof, Mahmoud ‘s watch couldnt hold despite all preparations they claimed to have. How could he have postponed election that was supposed to hold in less than 6 hours? What a greater and largely embarrassment prof has put Nigeria in to!! This unworthy and ridiculous action should be tantamount to sack for embarrassing Nigerians before international election observers.

Another minus for aspiring candidates as voters who had travelled far for the election may not want to risk it the second time…..

However the following are series of facts that have emerged, leading to the postponement.

1. Fire incident at 3 INEC STATE Offices (Plateau, Abia and Anambra)

2. Stealing of ballot papers,

3. Arresting opposition figures.

4. Ballot papers for Niger East & Central where-about cannot be traced.

5. Over 10,000 Card Readers between Abia , Plateau and Anambra .

6. Planes carrying sensitive materials cannot land in designated airports due to weather conditions;

7. CBN overwhelmed by logistics.

information have it that there are suggestions of staggering the election while solving the problems of logistics in other state having challenges. however forces opposing to the staggering of the election is more than those supporting it.

In all this INEC had to take a bold decision of postponing the election.
