Flooded Airport Making Wave In The Social Media Happened In 2014

The attention of the public has been drawn to the spread of a video clip of flood at one of Nigeria’s airports through the social media.

A source at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria who ascertain the authenticity of the video said, “the video is not a recent one”.

“It happened at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Owerri in 2014 and the administration then put necessary measures in place to avert re occurrence of such.

He further confirmed that FAAN has nothing to hide. If it actually happened recently, I mean two to three days ago, the management would have issued press statement to that effect”, said the source .

“Contacting all our airports managers across the country, because we were taken aback seeing the video too.

We discovered that the incident happened before this current administration. It actually happened in 2014 and the incident was handled at that time. The airport had been worked upon to avert the re occurrence of such.

We do not know the reason for the spread of what happened so many years ago. I think people should be careful of what they spread verifying the true reflection of such material.”
