Ogochukwu Namanene, from Lapai in Agaie Local Government Area of the state has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for allegedly raping a corps member who refused his love advances.
The 25 year old man was apprehended by a team of policemen attached to the Agaie division of the state while trying to escape.
The suspect was said to have raped the 22-year-old graduate serving at Janki Secondary school, Lapai, while returning from Lagos to Lapai.
It was learnt that Namanene had been making advances to the victim before the incident.
Northern City News gathered that the suspect pretended to be a commercial motorcyclist and while taking the corps member to her lodge, dragged her into the bush, overpowered and sexually assaulted her.
Namanene told our correspondent that he has “a soft spot” for the victim but did not know how to woo her.
“I was telling her to cooperate with me that I only wanted to express my affection for her but she refused. I beat her mercilessly until she became weak. After raping her, I rode my motorcycle away not knowing that the wrath of the law would catch up with me.”
Honestly, I love the corper but I don’t have the courage to express my affection for her, that was why I forcefully made love to her,” Namanene admitted.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect had been charged to court.
